DIFFICULTY LEVEL:Medium. It is done by car. Easy access to the petroglyphs.

The petroglyphs, especially concentrated in the municipality of Porto do Son, are scattered throughout the slopes of Mount Barbanza facing west. These are the traces of the communication of the first megalithic settlers in Barbanza, who oriented all their magic and rituals to the fall of the sun and the moon: to the West. Behind these marks on stone there is a whole linguistic code of human existence. This route allows you to delve into the relationship that these early settlers had with nature, with the stars, with inner and outer life, in their way of conceiving their own human existence and that of the village of which they were a part.

We will analyze in this route three places as a sample of the manifestation of these signs in the stone and their interpretation.

Itinerary. This route is traveled by car. There will be some walking, but of short distance (no more than one kilometer for each of the three places to be visited).

Starting point: Pincheiro’s façade, indication and explanation of the petroglyphs that we will see on the route. We leave Pincheiro in the direction of Monte Enxa in the municipality of Porto do Son, specifically to the crossroads of Montemuiño. There we contemplate the conjunction of prehistory and later evolution: The three dolmens with the crossroad in front. We walked down to the analysis of some petroglyphs.

We continue by car to the parish of Baroña to analyze the petroglyphs of La Gurita and their interpretation and connection with the sun and the moon.

Finally, we drove to the Parish of Caamaño to analyze the Sartaña petroglyphs, their meaning, interpretation and their traces in history and in the way of seeing time.

Details. The difficulty of the route is low. It is effortless as it is done by car. We will travel about 50km to visit three reference points of petroglyphs located on the western slope of Mount Barbanza.
